If I wanted to take a mix number and turn it into a improper  fraction I take the denominator and the whole number then I multiply the two and add the numerator then I  take the denominator and put it on the bottom then I take the answer to the problem and put it on top.

If I wanted to turn an improper fraction into a mixed number I take the denominator an divide it time the numerator an then we figure out it's the remainder.

2 1/2  =   5/2
